Featured Etsy Artist: MarkMyWords

Today's featured Etsy artist is a purveyor of all things reading-related, from reusable tote bags to bookmarks to ephemera. Journals and cards made from recycled vintage books, too!

A Chicagoan and at-home mom of two, Sarah of MarkMyWords is clearly committed to the environment, using upcycled Scrabble tiles to create beautifully embellished bookmark charms ,

and hand-screenprinting cotton tote bags that promote reduce/reuse/recycle:

...as well as those that celebrate brains...

Check her shop out!
I used my "Reuse Me" bag at the bead store the other day. What I enjoy most is spreading the message- maybe one other person will consider using a reusable tote instead of taking a plastic bag... after all, if I look this cool with one... ;)

New Item: Thoughts?

I am planning to add some of these to my etsy shop:

They're tin cans upcycled into pencil cups with a decorative, tie-dye-type polymer clay outside (made from squishing slices of cane onto the can!) and coated with acrylic glaze for shine and durability.

I haven't had a chance to take good pics yet (sorry for cell phone pic) but I'm curious to hear opinions on how they might do on etsy... I think recycled crafts are a big thing (as rightly they should be) and I totally love these (have one on my desk at work!), so it'd be cool if other etsy-ans loved them too! Let me know what you think!

Featured Etsy Seller: Mister Reusch

I was first drawn to this artist's Etsy page by his fantastic pinups. This nude, in particular, caught my eye (I kind of have a thing for purple).

A Boston-area artist, Mr. Reusch is incredibly versatile, with his distinct painting style appearing not only in original paintings and prints, but on rock concert posters, snowboards and hockey sticks (!) and in his own Hallowe'en themed childrens' books (naked ladies not included).

Some of his favorite subjects are curvy women (woo hoo!), monsters and ghouls and other spooky loveliness, and doggies!!!

Check out his Etsy shop, where you can buy prints of his excellent work: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5532890

There are plenty of options for those whose tastes don't ru
n toward voluptuous pinups... like this lovely moon painting!

Mr. Reusch also maintains two blogs here, showcasing different aspects of his work:

Latest Custom Work

Well, I've finished the bridal chandeliers but don't have a good picture of them yet (the digital lives at my boyfriend's house). However, I thought I would post some new custom designs I made up for someone who wanted chandeliers using black-- I had been focusing on bright colors! So, this was an exciting challenge for me.
I love the results and I know I would wear them... hope she does too. This is for a custom from my bf's message board... I've had zero luck with Etsy no matter what I try, despite listing and relisting, improving my photos, and trying to promote like crazy. 75ish hearts, only the 2 PIF sales still. Sigh. It's enough to make a girl cry.
Anyway, here's to hoping things pick up.
Let me know what you think of these new ones!

My first CUSTOM ORDER!!!

Sooo excited today... Late last night after updating my shop all day, I got a custom order inquiry from a bride for her wedding in May!

She loved these pink chandeliers but wants something in pearl and clear crystal instead.

I can't wait to start designing them! Ooooooh what fun. Doin' a little dance today. Yep, I'm a dork, but I'm happy!!!
